Advanced Visualization Techniques for Forest Management and Research

Forest Management and Research calls for new visualization techniques for representing and analyzing forest information verifiable, reliable, and accurate.This paper introduces some approaches used in Forest Landscape Visualization System (FLVS), which can help forester to implement forest visualization management interactively. Furthermore, the integration of different commercial software (e. g. PHOTOSHOP and MAPINFO) can also significantly increase the accessibility to forest visualization.The practical application of FLVS showed that those approaches have important value to the forest scientific management.
