The paper first carries out time and spatial analyses of forest diseases and insect pests and points out that the most serious year is 1989, the most serious region is central-south, the disaster areas are increasing as a whole and insect pests account for larger than forest diseases. After a comparison of its loss analysis, it concludes that disaster occurrence area is larger than prevention and cure area; The former is larger than reforestation area. Main reasons are worsened ecological environment, unreasonable management, feeble management institutions, ignored prevention and cure, diseased legal system, short of funds, and so on. According to these, the paper puts forward related countermeasures to reduce forest diseases and insect pests.
